Joanne Ruiz is a workforce development and employee engagement specialist who helps manufacturers build stronger, more inclusive teams that drive productivity and long-term success. Growing up in the manufacturing Midwest with both parents working at a major steel mill, Joanne developed a deep appreciation for the role manufacturing plays in supporting families, strengthening communities, and creating economic opportunity.
Joanne began her manufacturing career at a steel manufacturer managing automotive customer accounts, where she navigated complex U.S.–Mexico cross-border shipping challenges. Through hands-on experience with export documentation, logistics coordination, and cross-functional collaboration, Joanne learned the critical role communication plays in meeting customer expectations and operational goals. This experience shaped her ability to view organizations holistically and help employees build practical communication and problem-solving skills.
As a bilingual (English/Spanish) professional with IMEC, Joanne focuses on workforce development and employee engagement, with a strong emphasis on empowering Spanish-speaking employees. By partnering with supervisors and implementing proven training methodologies—such as Training Within Industry (TWI)—Joanne helps manufacturers break down language barriers, strengthen frontline leadership, and create more engaged, productive teams that positively impact the bottom line.
