IMIN Network Event: Introduction to Kata
November 20, 2019 @ 7:30 am - 10:00 am
Introduction to Kata: A Structured Practice for Consistent Improvement
Are employees in your organization lacking the motivation to challenge themselves to improve?
Are improvements happening but taking many directions with no focus?
Is your organization collecting a list of problems that are not getting resolved?
Stop collecting problems. It’s time to start improving!
Business Improvement Consultant, Sadie Taylor Paige, will introduce you to Kata which is a structured way to create a culture of continuous learning and improvement at all levels.
The suffix “kata” means “way of doing,” and common definitions are:
- Way of doing something
- Pattern, form, routine, or method
The basis of Kata is simply to form routines or patterns of behavior that can be practiced to develop a skill to the point that it becomes automatic. When employees practice them consistently and deliberately, confidence develops in their ability to recognize and make small improvements. This pattern of thinking can help keep your employees – as well as your business processes – in top form.
Participants will learn the 4 steps to continuous improvement using Improvement Kata as well as giving the learner procedural guidance – not solutions – so they can overcome obstacles using Coaching Kata.
