Amy Murphy brings more than 30 years of experience in workforce development, human resources, higher education, and organizational training to her role at IMEC. A trusted leader in talent strategy, Amy specializes in workforce development and apprenticeships, leadership coaching and team building, human resources practices including talent acquisition, onboarding, career pathways, performance management, and employee engagement and retention as well as customer service and career preparation. Her work is driven by a passion for developing people, strengthening organizations, and aligning talent initiatives with strategic business goals.
At IMEC, Amy leads comprehensive workforce and human capital initiatives that span leadership coaching, employee engagement and retention strategies, grant-funded program development, and customized training solutions. She partners closely with manufacturers to strengthen HR practices, build high-performing teams, support sales and leadership development, and deliver impactful Microsoft and software training. Her expertise in the Order-to-Cash process and cross-functional collaboration positions her as a key contributor to organizational transformation and sustainable growth.
Prior to joining IMEC, Amy held senior leadership roles in higher education, where she directed contract training, professional development, and continuing education programs while working closely with employers, primarily manufacturing, on workforce and HR-aligned solutions. She has successfully written and administered federal, state, and local grants and built strategic partnerships to launch high-impact career training and apprenticeship programs. Most notably, Amy designed and implemented the apprenticeship program at Joliet Junior College, securing approval for 21 occupations and collaborating with 18 employer partners in its first year.
Amy’s results-driven approach has produced measurable outcomes, including generating more than $3.1 million in profits through cost-recovery operations and launching a Manufacturing Day initiative that connected more than 800 students with career pathways in industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Workforce Education from Southern Illinois University. Amy also maintains multiple professional certifications, including TWI Job Relations, DDI Facilitation, eMarketing, and Defensive Driving.
