Common areas

Should I close off the common areas or shared machines, water fountains, etc?

Currently, there aren't any exceptions to the rules and regulations set by OSHA. If fact, OSHA is reminding employers about their responsibility for sanitation. You could still provide potable water to your employees by having water locations with single-use cups that would be disposed of after each use or bottled water could also be an option. One last option would be to provide cleaning supplies at your water fountain locations, so prior to each use, the employee can disinfect the fountain. I hope this information is helpful.
