SUMMARY:The Minor Servicing Exception Explained: Avoiding Pitfalls in LOTO Compliance
DESCRIPTION:OSHA’s Lockout/Tagout (Hazardous Energy Control) Standard remains one of the most frequently cited—and most misunderstood—requirements in manufacturing. While there are many compliance traps in the LOTO standard\, few concepts are as challenging as understanding and correctly applying the minor servicing exception (“MSE”)\, which allows manufacturers to perform certain limited tasks—such as clearing small jams\, adjusting guides\, lubricating components\, or making minor tooling changes—without fully implementing energy control procedures. This exception is intended for activities that are closely tied to normal production operations and can be completed quickly without exposing employees to significant risk. However\, determining whether a task qualifies is not always straightforward\, particularly when evaluating whether it is truly “routine\, repetitive\, and integral to production\,” as required by the standard. \nIn practice\, employers frequently misinterpret these criteria\, either applying the exception too broadly or overlooking key hazards. Even when tasks appear minor\, if they are not performed regularly\, follow a predictable pattern\, or are essential to the production process\, the exception may not apply. Even when they identify tasks that fall within the MSE\, manufacturers often struggle to implement alternative protective measures—such as safeguarding\, safe work procedures\, or presence-sensing devices—that are sufficiently effective to protect employees during these tasks. \nIn this webinar\, OSHA defense attorneys Aaron Gelb and Mark Ishu will be joined by Ted Sberna\, Lead Consultant at White Horse Safety Inc. and member of the ANSI B11 machine guarding standards committee\, for an informative discussion intended to clarify regulatory expectations and provide practical guidance for evaluating when the minor servicing exception applies and how to ensure worker safety when it does. \nParticipants in this webinar will learn: \n\nHow OSHA defines and interprets “routine\, repetitive\, and integral to production” in the context of the minor servicing exception\nPractical examples of tasks that typically qualify—and those that do not\nCommon compliance pitfalls and misconceptions that lead to improper use of the exception\nHow to conduct a defensible hazard assessment to determine whether full lockout/tagout is required What alternative protective measures are considered “effective” and how to implement them in real-world operations

SUMMARY:MAXIMIZING COMPANY VALUE: 8 Drivers Every Manufacturer Should Assess
DESCRIPTION:Most Illinois manufacturers are working hard on growth—but not all growth creates lasting company value. The difference isn’t more activity; it’s knowing which value drivers to strengthen next. In this webinar\, Next Play Marketing will walk through the 8 value drivers in the Next Play Value Multiplier™—Revenue Engine\, Market Authority\, Growth Engine\, Digital Dominance\, Sales System\, Loyalty Engine\, Scalability Drivers\, and Strategic Assets—and show how each one affects profitability\, resilience\, and eventual valuation. You’ll see how gaps across these drivers quietly drag down company value\, and how focusing on the right few can change the trajectory\, whether you’re in growth mode\, scaling operations\, or planning for an eventual exit. You’ll leave with a practical way to assess your own business and a “next play” lens to decide where to focus over the next 12–24 months. \n  \nTo ensure a secure experience for all participants\, please log in using your own Zoom account with a username and password. SUMMARY:OPTIMIZE OR REPLACE: An ERP Decision Guide for Manufacturers
DESCRIPTION:Is your ERP system holding your organization back\, or are internal processes the real issue? \nThis executive-level presentation helps manufacturing leaders determine whether they should optimize their existing ERP system or pursue a full replacement. Designed specifically for small to mid-sized manufacturers\, this session walks through the critical mindset\, structural components\, and disciplined processes required for ERP success. \nWhat This Presentation Covers: \n\nWhy ERP success is driven by people and process discipline\, not just software\nHow to assess data accuracy and process maturity before considering replacement\nThe risks of replacing software without fixing foundational issues\nA structured approach to ERP Evaluation & Selection (E&S)\nInformation flow mapping to validate system requirements\nHow to conduct meaningful software demos (“Day in the Life”)\nUnderstanding that go-live is a launch decision\, not a calendar decision\n\nThis presentation emphasizes that accurate data\, disciplined processes\, and properly trained people must be in place before any ERP decision is made. SUMMARY:FRAMEWORK FOR EXCELLENCE: Structured Problem-Solving Workshop - Chicago
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event is now closed. If you’re interested in future events\, please reach out to outreach@imec.org. \nThis hands-on\, three-hour workshop introduces participants to a structured\, visual\, and collaborative approach to problem solving using A3 Thinking\, a proven methodology rooted in continuous improvement. SUMMARY:DEBUNKING THE MYTH: ISO Made Simple for Small Businesses
DESCRIPTION:ISO 9001 implementation for small to mid-sized businesses does not have to be difficult. In fact\, the standard was revised with small and micro enterprises in mind\, making it more accessible and adaptable. \n  \nWhen it comes to small to mid-size businesses\, we can debunk many myths such as: \n  \nMyth: You need a full-time quality manager. \nReality: Small teams can share responsibilities effectively \n  \nMyth: It requires complex documentation. \nReality: ISO 9001 allows for minimal and tailored documentation \n  \nMyth: It’s only for large corporations. \nReality: Smaller companies tend to be more in tune with the day-to -day business activities\, therefore smaller entities are not siloed in their intercommunications within the business \n  \nWhy ISO 9001 Is Worth It for Small Businesses \n\nImproves customer satisfaction through consistent quality.\nBoosts efficiency by streamlining processes.\nEnhance credibility with clients who require certification.\nSupports growth by enabling better decision-making through data.\n\n  \n*Event details are subject to change. \n*Upon registration\, you will receive a confirmation email.
