“That’s How We’ve Always Done It!”: Breaking Generational Sticking Points
Employers recognize that value creation is now more about the intangible assets (people, culture, IP), than 40 years ago when tangible assets (machines, materials and customers) were the primary driver of value. Recognizing that by 2025, over 25% of your workforce will be exiting as the “Silver Tsunami” of employees over 55 retire and the Millennial Generation and Generation Z will make up the majority of your workforce, how will you attract, motivate, manage, and retain these employees?
Rick Owens, a business coach from Bloomingtion, IL will provide an engaging presentation about why there are only 4 generation types throughout history and how managers can benefit from understanding what types are coming to the workforce. In addition, Rob Newbold will supplement the presentation with an activity that will show five steps to learning how to move past the Sticking Points inherent in generational differences. If you have multiple generations which find it difficult to get along at your business, this is the topic you want to attend. Continuous improvement methods, information needs, ways of working, and expectations of outcomes are some of the sticking points that will be covered.
