February 20 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Join IMEC and Wipfli LLP to learn about tax credits that can help Illinois brewers to stimulate innovation, create jobs and capital investment.
Proper understanding of the tax law can result in substantial savings which we will lay-out in the webinar on February 20, 2018 at 10 am.
The Research and Development Tax Credit rewards companies that invest resources in innovation and product and process improvements which help to expand our economy. The R&D tax credit has been in existence since 1981, but changes in regulations in 2001, 2003, 2014, and 2015 have allowed for additional activities to qualify as research activities creating greater opportunity for a federal and state tax credit (a direct reduction dollar-for-dollar in the amount of taxes paid).
The R&D tax credit is one of the most significant benefits available to businesses as they can benefit by both deducting the research expenditures and by claiming the credit. These incentives are broader than many companies realize, applying to not only product development, but also other activities and operations such as development of new manufacturing processes, and environmental improvements.
Contrary to popular belief, the research tax credit isn’t limited to high-tech, biotech, and pharmaceutical companies. If your company does any of the following, you may qualify for the research credit:
· Product formulations
· Product prototype batches
· Flavor or aroma profiles
· Preservative chemicals
· Filtration methodologies
· Ingredient mixing methodologies
· Hopping techniques
· Hop varieties
· Yeast strains
· Fermentation processes
· Bottling or canning processes
· Bottle, bottle crown or can designs
· Custom design and build machines for use in operations
