Gateway Packaging Company
When Gateway packaging experienced significant turnover among its management team, company leaders decided to start fresh with training to ensure new and experienced leaders shared common goals and strategies for maintaing the company’s 25 year history of quality and service.
After discussing goals and identifying focus areas, IMEC developed a training program that included workshops for approximately 20 supervisors focused on problem solving, Training Within Industry, and total productive maintenance. IMEC team members led the sessions over the course of three weeks. An IMEC project manager then spent one-on-one time with several shop floor supervisors to build job instruction documents for various pieces of equipment. IMEC also conducted a full-day lean manufacturing overview for the company’s 12-member executive team.
- Production capacity enhanced
- Equipment uptime increased
- Quality and consistency of machine operation improved
- Job instructions documented for key equipment
“As a smaller manufacturer, we need an advocate, and we found that in IMEC. They talked to us about what we were trying to accomplish, then put a solution together to meet our needs.”
– Stephanie Winslow, Project Manager
