Manufacturers in seven TIF districts to receive fully-funded virtual training courses to upskill their workforce and improve productivity.
Chicago, IL – May 12, 2021: The Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) TIFWorks program has partnered with IMEC to fund expert-led virtual training courses for select manufacturers in seven of the TIF districts. This Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funded initiative will cover enrollment for 14 companies, up to 28 participants, in each of the selected TIF district.
“Thousands of employers across Chicago have made significant and crucial efforts to pivot their operations in response to the ongoing public health crisis,” said DPD Commissioner Maurice D. Cox. “This workforce development initiative will build on those efforts in the manufacturing sector and ensure these businesses come out of the pandemic stronger than ever.”
Course topics are centered around safety, leadership, process improvements, maintenance fundamentals, and strategy in a post-COVID-19 world. These are designed to equip manufacturers with the knowledge, tools, and resources to upskill and retool their workforce, improve productivity and safety practices, and understand when and how to shift business strategy.
Manufacturers with fewer than 40 employees that are located in one of the below Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts are eligible to apply to receive training from IMEC experts:
Companies interested in this program should consider enrolling manufacturing leaders, supervisors, and frontline employees to empower them to perform and generate results that point to a competitive future.
Dr. David Boulay, President of IMEC, had this to say about the program: “Chicago manufacturers have shown how resilient they are over the last year. By taking advantage of the training and strategy that this program offers, they can focus on what is needed to excel well into the future.”
This opportunity puts these Chicago manufacturers in a position to thrive during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies who are interested are advised to apply immediately, as there are only 28 seats available per TIF district. Learn more and apply by clicking here.
