Position: ILPEx Specialist

Location: Greater Chicago area

Position Description and Responsibilities

The ILPEx Specialist initiates and maintains relationships with Judges, volunteer examiners and applicant organizations, assesses their challenges and opportunities, supports the examiner teams by helping clients optimize their performance, and sells IMEC’s improvement capabilities and resources.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Recognition Cycle, execution of the calendar of events and project engagements
  • Provide direct consultation to organizations within their own area of expertise
  • Recruit, develop and support Examiners and Judges
  • Maintain consistency of award process with the National Malcolm Baldrige Program
  • Process annual award applications
  • Identify and lead award teams and ensure success and adherence to processes
  • Coordinate team activities with the Chief Judge and Judges
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan
  • Maintain consistent documentation and improvement processes
  • Support Regional Manager Teams as the ILPEx subject matter expert
  • Draft, prepare and submit grant funding proposals
  • Prepare proposals
  • Deliver sales presentations

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ experience working with a career progression that includes leadership responsibility. Master’s degree preferred.  An emphasis in Engineering, Technology, Marketing, or Operations Management is preferred.

Candidates should be sincerely interested in helping organizations implement new techniques and processes. Must have good computer skills and be a strong written and verbal communicator. An ILPEx Specialist will need tact and diplomacy in dealing with clients, professional associations, government stakeholder representatives, and other service providers.

Particular consideration will be given to candidates with the proven ability to lead companies down a path of continuous improvement, with the demonstrated capacity to diagnose company needs and effectively communicate value to all levels of the company, from production personnel to top management. Experience in providing services in one or more of the following areas: strategic marketing, information technology, strategic and operational planning, lean manufacturing & waste reduction, plant layout, process optimization, product development, quality systems, Six Sigma, and supply chain development.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to synthesize and present highly technical data succinctly to nontechnical business executives, and interact effectively with all levels of a manufacturing organization

Language Skills:

Must be able to communicate effectively with community organizations, public stakeholders, third-party resources, client personnel and employees at all organizational levels and to develop effective working relationships with staff and a network of technical resources.

Reasoning Ability:

Individual must be a team player with the ability to exercise independent, sound judgment and discretion; be able to plan; be well organized; work well under pressure; take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative.

Physical Demands:

Position requires the ability to sit for long periods at a computer terminal.  Some walking, standing, and bending are required.

Work Environment:

Normal office environment and standard hours with extended hours and weekend work as required. Position requires travel to remote manufacturing facilities across the state by aircraft and automobile. Driving is an essential function of the job. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. This position has a lifting requirement of up to 70 pounds. Applicants must be capable of accessing manufacturing facilities which may not be ADA accessible.
