Products
Produces defatted wheat germ and wheat germ oil used in food products, cosmetic and hair care products and nutritional supplements for humans and animals

Opportunity
Delivering high-quality products had never been an issue for VIOBIN USA, but when some of its large customers began requiring FSSC 22000 Certification—the first global food safety standard specifically targeted at the food manufacturing sector—the company found it challenging to work through the registration process on its own. Company leaders spent about a year putting the building blocks in place, then decided it was time to bring in additional expertise.

IMEC Solution
IMEC worked hand-in-hand with VIOBIN USA to perform a gap analysis, improve documentation efforts, simplify record-keeping procedures and eliminate repetitive paperwork. IMEC kept in regular contact with VIOBIN USA via phone and email to review work completed and offer suggestions for next steps, as well as providing on-site support several times before the registration audit. In January, VIOBIN USA successfully completed stages one and two of its FSSC 22000 Certification—becoming one of the first companies in the United States registered to the new food safety standard.

Results
  • Successful registration to FSSC 22000 quality certification
  • Increased credibility with current and potential customers
  • Reduced errors and associated costs
  • Improved record-keeping systems
  • Documented, transferable work instructions

“Some consultants tell you whatever you want to hear. But IMEC isn’t here to sell you something—they’re here to help you get results. And they do it at a fraction of the cost.” – Stan Eades, Quality Systems Manager
