Six Sigma

Process improvement, using methods like Six Sigma, is imperative for businesses seeking a competitive advantage. These tools are designed to increase productivity, boost quality and enhance competitiveness by reducing cost.

Despite the demonstrated benefits of these improvement techniques, many attempts by companies to use them have not returned the desired results that come with lasting and successful implementation. Companies often struggle to gain initial and ongoing acceptance of these tools and to follow-through with continuous improvement projects.

To increase the opportunity for success in putting together a Six Sigma program and realizing the full benefits of this initiative, IMEC can assist companies with training and assistance as part of their implementation.

IMEC’s Six Sigma programs include:
    • Six Sigma Overview Training — To be successful, any change program must be fully understood and implemented at all levels of an organization. This summary of Six Sigma concepts and the intent and approach for typical Six Sigma initiatives within a company will help all employees better understand their roles.
    • Six Sigma Champion Training — For successful Six Sigma implementation, company leaders — those people who own the processes to be improved, make resources available, evaluate financial cost justifications, and/or supervise the individuals selected as Black Belts and Green Belts — must participate in Champion training. Although Champions do not typically lead Six Sigma projects, they must fully support the process for the company to realize their full potential for success.
    • Six Sigma Black Belt Training — Black Belts lead Six Sigma projects within their company and train others on Six Sigma methodologies. Participants will be trained in a variety of tools needed for successful Six Sigma implementation, such as Design of Experiments and Quality Function Deployment, as well as team-building and project management skills.
    • Six Sigma Green Belt Training — Green Belts assist Black Belts on Six Sigma project teams and may lead projects of their own, as well. Participants will understand the Six Sigma philosophy and methodologies. Through lectures, exercises and simulations, they will learn the DMAIC methodology and the tools needed to implement it at the Green Belt level.
    • Black Belt/Green Belt Coaching — On-site coaching by certified Black Belts or Master Black Belts assist in overcoming obstacles that plague many Six Sigma projects. Coaches can provide information on the application of appropriate Six Sigma tools, as well as guidance on conquering resistance to change.
    • Six Sigma Tool-kit — Training and on-site assistance with implementation of tools used in Six Sigma projects such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, and Process Mapping.
