Transco Products Inc., a supplier of stainless steel components to the nuclear power industry, received the 2013 Illinois Governor’s Exporter of the Year award from Governor Pat Quinn during the 2013 Governor’s Export Awards Reception held at the Union League Club of Chicago on July 31, 2013.
In support and recognition of demonstrating commitment to international trade, Governor Quinn handed out awards to a dozen Illinois companies stating “Thanks to the efforts of companies through the state, global consumers know that Illinois produces many world-class goods and services. We should utilize all of our assets to ensure these goods and services continue to reach markets across the globe. Doing so puts more Illinois products in the international marketplace, while creating more jobs here are home.”
In 2012, Transco Products Inc.’s exports accounted for 67% of their total annual sales, an increase of 52% from the previous year. Exporting products since 1975 from their manufacturing facility located in Streator, IL, Transco currently exports to nuclear power plants in Asia/Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.
“Since export for nuclear power is heavily regulated, Transco determines foreign market potential by closely following U.S. policy and international agreements followed by careful analysis of industry trends and energy policies in the target country,” explained Nathan Miller, Transco’s Director of Sales, Marketing and Business Development. In May of 2013, Transco Products Inc.’s President Ed Wolbert continued Transco’s drive for export expansion by joining Francisco Sánchez, Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, on a civil nuclear policy trade mission to China and Vietnam promoting the Obama Administration’s National Export Initiative to expand exports abroad by reducing trade barriers and providing export assistance.
Located in Chicago, IL, Transco Products Inc. has been meeting the growing safety, efficiency and security demands of nuclear power plants for over 50 years by providing products and services to over 160 nuclear generating stations worldwide, including every nuclear power plant in the United States. Best known for its reflective metal insulation, Transco Products Inc. also designs, manufactures and installs emergency core cooling strainers and has an extensive line of passive fire protection products.
