Lean Leadership Workshop to Drive Continuous Improvement Management Techniques
|For Immediate Release|
|May 21, 2013|
[Lombard, Illinois] - The Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC) and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) have partnered to bring a new continuous improvement topic to the manufacturing and supply chain community. "Lean Leadership with CSCMP" is a great opportunity for manufacturing leaders of large and small companies to understand roles and responsibilities that each level of the organization will face when effectively implementing Lean. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 25th from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the CSCMP headquarters in Lombard, IL.
The full-day program is focused on the staples of a successful Lean organization: leadership measuring progress, leading in a culture of Lean thinking, and engaging every worker in participating in continuous improvement. Through the Lean Leadership program, IMEC's Manufacturing Specialists can help prepare leadership teams to view Lean as a strategic business management tool, introducing new concepts and re-establishing time-tested leadership principles.
Topics to be covered include implementing management systems to develop the organization and drive change; developing supervisors whose responsibilities will shift from reactive, to firefighting, to proactive leadership of well-equipped and engaged teams; directing, planning, managing, and controlling program implementation; and establishing support systems - budgeting, communications and promotion, performance measures, recognition and rewards - to support a culture of continuous improvement.
Manufacturers and supply chain leaders are encouraged to register early to ensure a seat in the limited workshop and receive the early bird discount. Registration is available online now by visiting http://cscmp.org/scm-workshops/lean-leadership. IMEC was established in 1996 with the goal of improving the productivity and competitiveness of Illinois’ small and mid-sized manufacturing firms. A non-profit economic development organization, IMEC is funded in part by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and through fees paid by Illinois manufacturers for IMEC’s services. IMEC has 11 offices statewide and 40 full-time manufacturing improvement specialists. For more information, visit www.imec.org.
