Oak Brook, Illinois - The ILPEx Recognition Program celebrated six organizations as 2016 recipients of the ILPEx Awards for Excellence. Hosted at the 22nd annual award ceremony and recognition dinner on March 30 at the Hyatt Lodge on the McDonald’s Campus in Oak Brook, the recipients were acknowledged as the newest members of a Class of Distinction. Selected by the ILPEx Panel of Judges, these organizations and individuals are recognized as those who have made significant achievements in the pursuit of performance excellence. The ILPEx Recognition Program is Illinois’ only statewide program patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, managed by the U.S. Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology.
One organization was awarded the 2016 ILPEx Gold Award for “Achievement of Excellence” for their on-going commitment to the Baldrige Framework for Performance Excellence in Illinois and serving as a true role model for organizations on the journey. Gold award recipients demonstrate measures to track operational and strategic goals and execute improvement processes that are integrated, repeatable and regularly evaluated. The recipient is:
American College of Healthcare Executives - Chicago
Two organizations were awarded the 2016 ILPEx Silver Award for “Progress toward Excellence,” which demonstrates progress in building a systematic approach based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework with evidence of deployment across organizational units. They are:
Concentric Rockford - Rockford
Community Consolidated School District 93 - Bloomingdale
Three organizations were awarded the 2016 ILPEx Bronze Award for “Commitment to Excellence” for providing evidence of building effective systems for performance improvement, and for whom key processes demonstrate an approach to data evaluation, while identifying improvement strategies for a long-term commitment to organizational excellence. These organizations are:
Elmhurst Hospital - Elmhurst
HSHS St. Francis Hospital - Litchfield
National Express LLC - Warrenville
“The ILPEx Awards for Excellence recognizes those organizations in Illinois that are true role models of a commitment to enterprise excellence,” said Ben Krupowicz, Executive Director of the ILPEx Recognition Program. “The six recipients of the 2016 awards have not only driven awareness and performance improvement internally, but inspire likeminded organizations across the state interested in achieving excellence at a world class level. Several of our award recipients have shown dedication to the process over multiple award cycles and through engagement in serving as volunteer examiners. This truly sets them apart as members of the class of distinction.”
In addition, the 2016 award ceremony launched the inaugural recognition for the ILPEx Interest in Excellence Award and honored IMEC (Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center) as its first recipient. The Interest in Excellence application recognizes organizations committed to using performance improvement principles but are early in their journey. The five-page application includes completion of the Organizational Profile which addresses the question “What is important to our organization?” Reviewed by a team of ILPEx Examiners, each applicant receives written feedback and a closer look at their successes and opportunities for improvement. The Interest in Excellence applications are accepted throughout the year, under no specific deadline, and reviewed by the team of volunteers.
The keynote speaker for the awards ceremony was Allyson Young, Human Resources & Brand Director for K&N Management. K&N Management is a restaurant group based in Austin, Texas founded on the principal of pursuing excellence and a recipient of the 2010 Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award. Focused on increasing internal and external engagement with team members and guests, Allyson shared K&N’s enthusiastic and thoughtful approach to delighting the customer beyond expectations.
Associate event sponsors included Advocate Health Care, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and National Express. Supporting sponsors of the award ceremony and recognition dinner included Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Elkay Manufacturing, Memorial Health System, Saint Anthony Hospital, Southern Illinois Healthcare and U. S. Cellular.
